Uroligt hjerte is an ongoing examination of heart palpitations and the color blue.
In the video-essay I am listing blue things and stories deriving from the personal, Japanese literature and conversations with a doctor. I examine my restless heart’s connection to the color and match it with visuals of blue interiors. The texts in the video derive from a longer essay with the same title.
In the collage Uroligt Hjerte, I explored the color blue through photographs, found images, archival material and thread. With various techniques, I searched for the perfect blue color, which for me expresses restlessness, boredom and insomnia. The photographs were produced by analogue manipulation of color and black and white negatives and prints. The composition was intuitive, and the search for the blue color became a healing process that helped calm my restless heart. The title refers to the medical term for when the heart beats fast or out of rhythm, a physical reaction often associated with stress and anxiety.
