Forced Perspective
One of the rooms in Gathenhielmska huset is called the Versailles room after its mural depicting the french charteau with its gardens. The mural is a so-called trompe-l'œil, an optical illusion created through a false perspective. In this work I have projected my own slide photographs on the wall, mixing the images with the mural, creating what looks like double exposures.
The term forced perspective comes from film and architecture, and means making something appear further away or closer than it is through by manipulating for example the light and focal lenght. Here, my dayly life is mixing with the Versailles Castle, erasing both time and distance.
The work was accompanied by sound by LunrGirl and was supported by KulturUngdom and Kulturrådet.
